Agathe Bejerano Calderon

Luthier - Viola da gamba

Crafting unique viols

The instruments that I build are bespoke orders and custom-made. They can be inspired by ancient instruments that have survived throughout the centuries and reached us today.

Each project requires an interview with the musician in order to determine their priorities and requirements, should they concern the research for the finest tone, the aesthetics or the ergonomics of the instrument.

Maintenance and adjustments

Whether it is for a spring-clean, to set up new frets, or to grease the pegs, every instrument deserves the attention of a luthier at least once a year.

It is also possible to go looking for a new sound or a lost sound, together.

"I am fully satisfied with the big treble recently made by Agathe Bejerano Calderon. This instrument, which I have already had the opportunity to use several times in concert, is not only aesthetically superb, but it also offers great ease of play. It stands out due to powerful treble notes and remarkably deep basses, making it ideal for treble, second treble and alto-viola parts. I highly recommend it."

Claude owns a treble viole made for him in the workshop.
